One of the latter ones occurred when the organization had permission from ShopRite of Clinton to sell raffle tickets outside the store. This turned out to be the weekend after the fire that destroyed the Open Cupboard food pantry and thrift shop. It was decided to ask for donations for the pantry in addition to selling the raffle tickets. Over the course of one weekend, generous shoppers donated over three thousand dollars to benefit the patrons of the food pantry. The monies donated were in turn changed into ShopRite gift cards to go to the patrons of the food pantry. To return to the raffle ticket sales, we were also able to sell over eight hundred dollars in raffle tickets that same weekend and the total of the 50/50 sales was over eighteen thousand dollars with half of it going to a lucky winner whose ticket was pulled at The AfterParty event. That event ran after our annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade as part of our Irish Festival Weekend. The weekend raised over thirty thousand dollars, the net profits of those and all our other fundraisers like our annual golf outing goes to help the less fortunate in Hunterdon County.
